    Dear all,

I am really looking forward to hosting our membership in Miami this Friday, January 18th – Sunday, January, 20th for the 2019 Biannual CUFA Retreat. For those of you that were hit by the snow this week, Miami will offer a welcome break from the cold weather. The weather reports are calling for high 70's and 80's all weekend. You may still want to pack an umbrella since you never know when it will rain in Miami; however, we are currently in our dry season, and the weather should be perfect for our event.

Just a few notes as we draw closer to the retreat:

    • I am attaching the final program, a map of FIU, a list of restaurants in the area, and a list of places of interest in the area. We will make sure this information is uploaded to our CUFA Retreat website.
    • For those who need transportation, the bus will pick you up on Friday at the lobby of the Aloft Hotel at 5:30 pm and transport you to the opening event at FIU's Frost Museum by 6:00 pm. Those staying at the Element can still access the Aloft through the common area linking both hotels. This bus will bring everyone back to the Aloft hotel at the end of the night (around 9:00 pm).
    • On Saturday, the bus will transport attendees from the Aloft to FIU at 8:30 am and will bring everyone back to the hotel at 4:30 pm. There will be one additional bus service that will leave the Aloft hotel at 11:00 am for those who may not make the morning sessions. I have also asked for the bus service to return a group to the hotel at 12:30 pm, should anyone need to leave early.
    • On Sunday, the bus will transport attendees from the Aloft to FIU at 8:30 am and then return everyone to the hotel at 12:30 pm.
    • If anyone is driving (or will have a rental car) and would like to park on campus, please send me an email at I can arrange for parking if I have your name, as well as the car make, model, color, and license plate number.
    • Miami is a Lyft and Uber – friendly town if the schedules mentioned above do not work for you. You can use these ride-share options on Saturday and Sunday evenings to explore the city.
    • For those leading a session, there will be a computer/projector, wipe board, and dry-erase markers in everyone room.
    • Finally, if you have not already done so, please go online and register for the event at This will ensure that we order the correct amount of meals for our retreat.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns or if I can be of any additional help. Feel free to email me at I look forward to seeing you all on Friday.
