    Dear Colleagues:

First, I hope you are staying healthy and safe amid the COVID-19 circumstances and other unprecedented realities around the world.

I am emailing you because l am editing the special issue of the Journal of Social Studies Research and Practice (SSRP) on Global Education and Pedagogy in PreK-12 Schools and Teacher Education for the 21st Century. This special issue aims to bring together a collection of articles on critical themes, content, perspectives, issues, and pedagogies on global education that will be beneficial to teacher education and pK-12 educators.  The goal is to increase educators' awareness about the concerns of today's interdependent world, their roles and responsibilities to prepare the young for transformative global citizenship as well as provide high-level scholarship and resources to support teacher educators and classroom teachers. More than ever, global education is urgently needed and yet so far overlooked in teacher education practice and Pk-12 classrooms.  Across the world, even as we live in an interdependent world, and the human family faces unprecedented challenges that defy unilateral solutions such as the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a movement toward nationalism and a denouncement of globalism.

The journal issue invites submissions that address timely topics such as global competence for pK-12 students and preservice and inservice teachers, global citizenship education, global perspectives pedagogy in pK-12 classrooms and in teacher education, the globally competent teacher, and Issues and perspectives in global education, etc. The call can be found at

Please consider submitting, perhaps with Prek-12 educators, and share the call with anyone you believe would be interested. The submission deadline is September 1, 2020, and the issue will be published in the Spring of 2021. Please contact me ( if you have questions. Thank you for your consideration!
