International Assembly (IA) Excellence in Scholarship and Research Award
Please recommend a social studies colleague or make a self-nomination for our International Assembly's (IA) annual Excellence in Scholarship and Research Award. To do so, please submit a current vita of a current IA member. Also, please list citations for some of the applicant's recent research from Google Scholar (last 7 years) within a cover letter of introduction. The committee will consider the applicant's number and nature of books, book chapters and articles within reputable and refereed venues. More weight will be accorded publications that have international content and impact. Some credit will also be given to international and national presentations, especially those that are invited. The expectation is that the recipient will be the primary author for most publications, although serving as second and third author will also be considered.

International Assembly (IA) Excellence in Teaching Award
This International Assembly's annual Teaching Award is open to social studies educators within IA who have had at least five to ten years of teaching experience. The educator must show evidence of teaching with a global or international education focus. You may nominate a colleague of self-nominate. In addition, the nominee or applicant must show evidence of his or her efforts to improve global or international education. In addition, they should be able to document international and local field experiences that support global mindedness and international education. Furthermore, the candidate or the nominating colleague should demonstrate within an introductory cover letter how the applicant shows a strong commitment to global/international education based on NCSS' goals:
To make a nomination or self-nomination, please provide an introductory cover letter that offers evidence for outstanding teaching through a two-page single-spaced summary that justifies the qualifications of the candidate based on the standards cited above. In addition, please provide basic information about how course/courses are designed, materials used & or techniques as well as insights into how learners are encouraged to develop global mindedness and/or international competence. In addition, please provide a representative syllabus with an international education focus and one letter of recommendation.

International Assembly Excellence in Service Award
This International Assembly (IA) service award recognizes an individual IA member who has consistently shown commitment to the International Assembly and its goals and has been willing to work with the larger IA community, the IA board and NCSS in general to foster the understanding of IA mission and global/international education in general. The nominee should show how he or she had provided service related to our IA and NCSS global/international education initiatives.
To be considered for this IA Excellence in Service Award, the reference or self-nomination package must include a two-page single-spaced introductory cover letter that shares how the nominee has been involved in the development of the concepts of global education and the local, national and international level. In addition, the letter must provide evidence of the nominee's sustained commitment to IA over several years. Furthermore, one letter of recommendation (submitted by the reference within a separate mailing) must be sent to the Awards Chair. This letter of reference must offer evidence of how the nominee is qualified to receive this award based on his or her service to IA and its goals:
