Dear Environmental and Sustainability Education Community Members,
I am looking for 1-2 community members interested in joining a panel at the Smithsonian National Education Summit this July 19-20 online. The panel is being coordinated by NCSS and the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE). Details below:
- Session title: Social Studies and Climate Literacy for a Sustainable Planet
- Session description: How can social studies learning support stronger climate literacy education in K-12 classrooms? Fostering a sustainable planet depends on student inquiry across vast disciplines including history, geography, economics, civics, and environmental education. This session features K-12 classroom educators sharing their inquiry questions and activities to prompt students to take informed action in nurturing a sustainable planet.
- Date: July 19 or 20 (time TBD), online
- Format: Panel presentation with 1-2 teachers from each association.
If you are interested, please email me at lpaska@ncss.org. Please identify your current teaching assignment and any specific projects or resources connecting environmental and social studies education you would like to share on the panel, as it pertains to the session description above.
Thank you!
Larry
