    One week until NCSS 2022!!! Today we're highlighting another collection of fantastic human rights education sessions to attend during your conference experience…



    Forced Removal of Indigenous Children, Genocide, and Anticolonial Teaching

    Note: This session is a pre conference clinic (please register using the NCSS conference registration portal: socialstudies.org/conference/registration)

    Thursday December 1st 10:00 AM-4:00 PM, Convention Center 202B

    Session Leads: Mishy Lesser, Chris Newell

    Description: Join a day of unlearning and learning about genocide against Native Americans as we grapple with new concepts, watch an Emmy-award winning documentary film, and explore free learning resources.

     

    The Human Rights Imperative: Developing Compassion, Understanding & Advocacy (Poster Session-Table 21)

    Friday December 2nd 11:30-12:30 pm, Convention Center Red Bridge West

    Session Leads: William Fernekes, Gloria Alter & John Terry

    Description: Human Rights Education can play a major role in social studies teaching and teacher education-specifically identifying how human rights principles relate to social studies and global and civic education, how social studies teaching practices can integrate human rights education, and how HRE can contribute to social studies teacher preparation.


    United Nations & the Human Rights Game

    Friday, December 2, 3:50 pm to 4:50 pm, Marriott Franklin 8 (4th Floor)

    Session Leads: Kristi Rudelius Palmer, Hugh Kingsley

    Description: Identify, value, and apply human rights practices within social studies education using "The Human Rights Game," underpinned by the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
