    K-12 teachers:

The University of Arizona Center for Middle Eastern Studies has a Middle East lesson plan competition that is open to teachers nation-wide. (And be sure to tell your English/Language Arts teaching colleagues about this competition too!) You can win a cash award for yourself and prizes for your school/classroom. You just submit a lesson plan written in such a way that other teachers at your grade level and in your content area can use it (including all the materials or links to materials, described explicitly, etc.) The deadline is September 12, but you can enter any time. So while you are planning ahead for the coming school year, think about this too! For more information, go to: Lesson Plan Competition 2017 | The Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES)

Lesson plans may be in any content area or at any grade level. They should be in a format ready to be used by other teachers who might not have a strong background in the subject presented and should include a concise outline of the academic K-12 standards addressed.
