    Dear NCSS Colleagues,

    The Human Rights Education Community is honored to host the Edward O'Brien Human Rights Educator Award Ceremony at our Community Reception, Saturday, November 14, 4:00 to 5:30 in the Fulton Room of the Marriott:

    • Saturday, 4:00 to 5:30 pm, in the Fulton Room of the Marriott: The HRE Community Reception will be held following the Community Scholar presentation. There will be refreshments, light snacks and a no-host bar.
    • Saturday, 4:15, At the HRE Community Reception: Kristi Rudelius-Palmer of the University of Minnesota Human Rights Center will be the recipient of HRE USA's inaugural 2015 Edward O’Brian Award for Human Rights Education. Established in memory of Ed O’Brien, pioneer human rights educator, the O’Brien Award honors an outstanding contribution to human rights education in the United States. The award will be presented by Scott Hirschfeld of the US Committee for UNICEF. Please join us to help congratulate Kristi Rudelius-Palmer!

    I hope you will be able to join us to honor a founding father in the field of human rights education and to congratulate Kristi Rudelius-Palmer, a human rights education leader who spearheaded the development of a K-12, standards aligned human rights education curriculum for Minnesota schools and, thanks to online access, to educators everywhere.
