Happy New Year colleagues. As program chair for the 2018 CUFA Annual Conference held November 28-30, 2018 in Chicago, IL, I would like to officially invite you to submit a paper proposal for this year's theme, Expanding the Intellectual Contours of Social Studies Education in Troubling Times. In alignment with the conference theme, there is a new session format entitled Collaborative Initiatives as well as an intellectually broadened approach to our Contemporary Issues Dialogue session. Also in alignment with the conference theme, I invite proposals from scholars of all stages: P-12 teachers, graduate students, faculty, independent researchers, and community activists. This program also welcomes proposals in fields relative to social studies education that have been historically excluded or viewed as peripheral in larger discourses of what constitutes social studies.
Please see the attached document for the expanded call for submissions, instructions for submission, and other important conference items such as paper awards and travel grants. The deadline to submit proposals is March 9, 2018 at 11:59pm PST.
In order to ensure a conference that is intellectually diverse, I also ask that you sign-up to review proposals and serve as a chair and/or discussant. Your intellectual contributions are both appreciated and needed to fully realize the conference theme. Upon visiting the website cufa2018.socialstudies.org, please click the "Sign-Up" link underneath the heading "Review and Program Committee." You will be prompted to enter your information, select topics for review, and sign-up to be a chair and/or discussant.
If you have any questions, please contact the conference program chair, Chris Busey, at CUFAConference2018@gmail.com. Updates to the program and other conference information can be found at cufa2018.socialstudies.org and will also be communicated through Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #CUFA18.
