    Colleagues,

I am serving as director for a conference on "Rethinking Race and Slavery at 400 Years."

This conference will take place on Friday 8 November 2019 at Avon Old Farms School, Avon, Connecticut. Coinciding with the quadricentennial of the introduction of the first African slaves at Jamestown, this conference aims to reconsider how we teach and conceptualize slavery and race across the entire span of U.S. history. We are seeking proposals for academic papers AND demonstrations of teaching about race and/or slavery.

Details about our keynote speakers, how to register, or to submit a proposal are here: https://www.avonoldfarms.com/rethinking-400-conference

    R
egistration will remain open through September. Proposal abstracts are due by 15 August.

Please consider attending or submitting a proposal. Feel free to reach out should you have any questions.

    Regards,
    Chris Doyle, Ph.D.
