    Hello CUFA Colleagues,

     

    The CUFA 2018 annual conference is only three weeks away. Below is a list of suggestions for getting the most out of your CUFA conference experience.

     Keynotes

    This year, CUFA's keynote speakers are established scholars whose scholarship and activism continue to expand the contours of educational research. Join us on Wednesday at 1:10pm for opening remarks and a keynote from Dr. David Stovall. On Thursday evening Dr. Angela Valenzuela will close the CUFA annual conference.

    Make Use of All Spaces

    If you have not done so already, sign up to lead or join an established Java network (there are some good ones already!); use the CUFA 2018 Java Networks Google doc to indicate your book, name, email, and meeting place. Also, if you are interested in organizing an informal gathering, conversation, or mentoring session related to a topic of your choice, you can use the CUFA 2018 Unconference Gatherings Google Doc to sign up. Great ideas begin here!

    Attend our Featured Sessions

    The first featured session is scheduled for Thursday, November 29th at 10:30am and will focus on ethnic studies and social studies education. Also, on Thursday afternoon, the second featured session will allow social studies researchers to hear from journal and book series editors regarding the future of social studies education research. This session will be moderated by Dan Krutka and Michael Milton for the Visions of Ed Podcast.

    Network, Network, Network!

    Our CUFA Forums are always working to establish formal and informal spaces to engage in conversation about social studies teaching and scholarship.  The CUFA Graduate Forum is hosting their "Conversation with Colleagues" session at noon on Wednesday, November 28. Additionally, the Scholars of Color Forum will have a social at the Mezcalina immediately following their business meeting on Wednesday evening.
