Here are two ways to get information on reputable, free or low-cost opportunities or resources for teachers:

    1. Sign up for a free, weekly (during the school year) e-bulletin, put out by the University of Arizona Center for Middle Eastern Studies. In a low-tech (so as be less likely to get caught up in schools' spam filters) email, you can hear about all kinds of internationally-themed programs/resources for teachers: including FUNDED summer PD opportunities in the U.S. or abroad, online lesson plan websites or videos, funding opportunities to finance school projects or PD participation, etc. To sign up, just email Lisa Adeli - adeli@email.arizona.edu - and ask to be added to an educators' listserv. The only information I need is your name, email address, and what listserv you want to be on (K-12 Arizona teachers, K-12 out-of-Arizona teachers, community college educators).

    2. Check out the many great, FREE online materials for educators on the CMES website:
    - There are lesson plans, searchable by grade level, content area, and/or country: https://cmes.arizona.edu/outreach/lessons.
    - There are plenty of handouts and background sheets and powerpoints at: http://cmes.arizona.edu/node/771 . For example, there are some powerpoints on the Jewish High Holy Days (about to start), info on the Persian New Year, teachable ideas about the Ottoman Empire, and lots, lots more.

    - Check out the other resources such as film guides (for films available at our Center or through Netflix), book lists (by grade level), and AP World History resources: http://cmes.arizona.edu/outreach/resources
    - We have a YouTube channel

    Like our Facebook page:

    - For a Middle Eastern photo of the day (plus description, follow us on Instagram: @cmes_ua.

Hope you are getting ready for an awesome school year!!
