    Hello,

Please find the message below from NCSS President Stefanie Wager, NCSS President-Elect Anton Schulzki, and NCSS Executive Director Lawrence Paska, Ph.D.

    --

    Dear Technology Community,

After careful consideration of current health and safety guidelines, we are pleased to announce registration will open soon for our 101st Annual Conference in Minneapolis, November 19-21, 2021. We invite you to join us in Minneapolis to reconnect with old and new social studies colleagues!

We regretfully announce, however, that the NCSS 100th Anniversary Conference will not be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC, December 10-12, 2021. Our centennial year will not be complete without finding a special way to celebrate our 100th anniversary together! Look for us to share more details on our plans for a unique 100th anniversary celebration in early 2022.

This was a very carefully considered decision with respect to all those who invested time and effort to help create a celebration of our 100th Anniversary in a face-to-face setting. The Washington, DC region, including its educators and organizations, has always been a gracious and welcoming host for our conference gatherings, and we look forward to returning there both for the NCSS Annual Conferences in 2025 and 2028.

We thank everyone who responded to our 2021 Conferences Member Survey. Your strong responses helped us to reach these decisions with confidence. We learned how much we all desire to connect in person, yet also heard from many that current travel, safety, and financial restrictions create uncertainty about how educators will attend professional conferences in the next school year. We hope our updated plans will better assist you to meet your professional learning and organization's financial goals.

On behalf of the NCSS Board of Directors and staff, we thank you for your continued support of the NCSS mission and vision. You are the heart of our association! Your passion and generous time commitment as an active NCSS member are appreciated and respected by all of us.

    Sincerely,

    Stefanie Wager, President

    Anton Schulzki, President-Elect

Lawrence M. Paska, Ph.D., Executive Director
