The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) and the Council for Professional Recognition (CFPR) are working together to explore the possibility of developing a national competency-based lead teacher certification for early childhood educators.
So far, we have gathered information on ECE Lead Teacher competencies and work activities from several credible sources. We are now looking to you, as experts in ECE, to verify this list of competencies and work activities and provide us with additional feedback.
What will I be asked to do?
The survey will ask you to respond to statements about what ECE lead teachers do as part of their job. Your responses will be kept confidential. Once we collect your responses, we will combine them with those from others in the ECE field across the nation. This combined data will be used to help us better understand what knowledge and skills are needed by ECE Lead Teachers and what the work of an ECE Lead Teacher looks like.
Who is administering the survey?
NBPTS has contracted with the Human Resources Research Organization (HumRRO) to conduct this survey. HumRRO has extensive experience with professional practice surveys and offers an easy, web-based experience (instructions to access the survey are provided below).
Why should I participate?
We understand and appreciate how extremely busy you are. Please know that your responses will assist CFPR and NBPTS in their research to ultimately advance the ECE Lead Teacher profession and ensure that ECE Lead Teachers across the nation are recognized for the critical work they do! Please join other ECE educators in completing the survey so all voices may be heard.
How do I access the survey?
Please use the following link to access the survey: ECE Lead Teacher Job Analysis Survey
Instructions for completing the survey are provided at the beginning of the survey. It should take no more than 30-45 minutes to complete; however, you may complete the survey in multiple sessions by copying and saving the unique survey link generated for you once you begin the survey.
Please complete the survey no later than midnight (Eastern) on March 30, 2021.
Thank you in advance for providing your input. We appreciate your commitment and dedication to the field of Early Childhood Education.
