  • Third Annual Inquiry Design Model (IDM) Institute

Dear Members of the Citizenship Community,

I wanted to make sure you and your Community members were aware of our upcoming summer professional learning opportunity: the third annual Inquiry Design Model (IDM) Institute. It will be held in Raleigh, NC from July 17-19.

This year, the IDM Institute is co-sponsored by C3 Teachers and NCSS – and we are thrilled to share this popular summer program with our wider NCSS community. As authors of the C3 Framework and co-founders of C3 Teachers, John Lee, Kathy Swan, and S.G. Grant have been working with teachers around the country to bring inquiry to life. For more about C3 Teachers’ impact around the country, see: http://www.c3teachers. org/where-inquiry-lives/.

The IDM Institute is a unique opportunity for teachers to not just learn about the C3 Framework and inquiry, but to create new instructional materials. Teachers will leave Raleigh with their own personalized inquiry-based materials and proven strategies for implementing those materials in their classes.

The IDM Institute registration cost is between $300 and $475, depending on the number of days (two or three) and NCSS membership. Register here: http://www.c3teachers. org/2017-institute/.

All Institute attendees will receive the following bonus materials:
    · A copy of the upcoming book by John Lee, Kathy Swan, and S.G. Grant, Inquiry-Based Practice in Social Studies Education: Understanding the Inquiry Design Model
    · Access to the Fall 2017 NCSS Webinar, “C3 in the Classroom: Teaching with the Inquiry Design Model” on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 @ 7:00 PM EDT (available live to the first 100 registrants, and archived for all Institute participants)

We look forward to seeing you this summer! Please share widely with your Community and your networks. Thank you!
