As in the past, NCSS plans on covering one night's hotel for two state council representatives. The second night's lodging would be the council's responsibility. We ask that you take this and your representative's airfare costs into account when budgeting for your council's expenses this coming year. While we plan on finding the lowest possible rates, please assume a single occupancy room, and a per night, per person lodging expense of $250.
Who Should Participate?
We would ask that affiliate councils select two up-and-coming council leaders interested in advocating for their profession and enriching their leadership skills. The Institute will dedicate time to Resolution writing to inform the governance of NCSS, time "on the hill" to meet members of Congress to advocate for social studies education, and best of all, an amazing opportunity to meet with NCSS lobbyist Catriona Macdonald to strengthen civic action skills for impacting education policy at local, state and national levels.
