Arts and Humanities are essential, says Arne Duncan
As we prepare to descend on DC for the NCSS conference, take a look at this latest statement concerning one of our key note speakers, Sec. of Education Arne Duncan. He is coming out as a strong supporter of history, geography and civics as a part of the core curriculum. Let's hold him to that as NCLB gets put under the microscope. Another interesting development comes from Sen Rand Paul, who called for a postponement in consideration of NCLB in order to get more input from administrators and, gasp, teachers! [http://www.educationnews.org/education-policy-and-politics/rand-paul-nclb-hearing-process-is-rotten-video/]
